Summary: The growing of civil construction in the last decades has defined the buildings as one of the main responsible for the world’s electricity consumption. In Brazil, na increase in impacts in the comercial and services sector, such as office buildings, are more signifcant due to the majority use of electricity to the detrimento of other energy sources. In addition, fully glazed façades, absence of shaders and considerable expenses with cooling systems, show some of their inefficient pratices. In view of this scenario new approaches to methods and techniques for architectural design with an emphasis on energy efficiency become more and more necessary. Although the technological advances are remarkable, there is still a slow process of insertion of computational tools as input in the development of high performance buildings in the professional reality of designers. As one way to rethink the design process, the performative design method has been promoted in academic studies not only by providing the association of digital tools, but also by directing their procedures to obtain buildings with better energy performance. Thus, the aim of this research was to propose a performative design methodology that relates parametric modeling, optimization and energy performance evaluation for office buildings. The procedures were divided into four stages, the first being the literature review in exploring the theoretical approach; and the following ones related to the generation, optimization and systematization of experimental data for the proposal formulation. The result of this design test, there was a significant 31% improvement in overall primary energy consumption and a 54% reduction in cooling demand in buildings that adopted the performative design characteristics. The approach was eficiente, since it achieved good results and to relate several variables in a short period of time. Due to these factors, it’s believed that’s possible to implement the method in the design of office buildings, having as future possibilities the association of software that allows the technical detailing and development of the final design stages.
